The Gospel of Luke in the Christian Bible tells us that when Jesus was in Gethsemane, “there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him” (Luke 22:43).
While no mortal experience could compare to what Christ went through in Gethsemane and my current situation is nowhere near what many of our Heavenly Father’s children suffer through daily, I have been blessed by many ministering angels during my time of trial and mini-Gethsemane. I am very grateful to classmates and roommates who constantly and consistently explain things to me time and time again; a French friend who provides unfailing support and encouragement; friends from Boston who sent care packages with cookies, photos, CDs, and love; a new friend from DC who selflessly spent a day arranging to fix my car battery when I was completely and totally overwhelmed; one of the richest men in the world who took time out of his busy schedule to counsel me and offer me a religious blessing; a high school friend who shelled out money so I could have a relaxing massage; a visiting friend from Boston who traveled with me down the coast and reminded me of nature’s stupendous beauty; an amazing sister who brought me to tears by reminding me of my worth and helping me to see a broader perspective to which I was blind.
Thanks be to God for all the ministering angels in my life who have appeared time and again to strengthen me.
